How does an individual get started in the field of plumbing? Does one need to get enrolled in a trade school first? Or do plumbing companies offer apprenticeship programs?
How often is it that a company will hire someone without experience and train them?

hi Aaron, one way is to look for a local union by where you live. they would normally have an apprenticeship program. the one i went to was for 5yrs 2 nights a week for 4 hours while working in the trade. they prepare you for your state exam. but if you don’t want to do the apprenticeship . you can find out with building codes compliance office what are requirements for plumbers license where you live, some states are different. where i live you show proof of 3 yrs working in the trade and you can take the exam. now the exam is no cake walk. let me tell you that with the program you learn more because you have people teaching you at work and at school.in the other hand the other way could be a faster way of getting your license.and by the way you find out the dates and or schedules of upcoming test with the code compliance office in your area that’s where you would pay for your test.
